The story takes place in a world where martial arts battles and Eastern magic are common, and the series follows four young warriors in training who fight against the forces of evil. They do this by protecting the Shen Gong Wu from villains who would use these artifacts to conquer the world. Originally aired on the Kids' WB programming block on the WB network in 2003, the series had 3 seasons and 52 episodes. Typical episodes focus on a specific Shen Gong Wu that is revealed, leading to a race between the two sides to find it. Episodes usually culminate when a good character and a bad character must challenge each other to a magical duel called a Xiaolin Showdown for possession of the artifact. A sequel series titled Xiaolin Chronicles premiered on August 26, 2013, on Disney XD. It began long-term airing on September 14 of the same year.
